Abstract Submission

The ACDPR 2016, organised jointly by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPRI) and Hong Kong College of Community Medicine (HKCCM), welcomes submission of abstracts for oral or poster presentation. ACDPR is an annual event in the HKJCDPRI’s calendar. Presenting at the ACDPR 2016 will help you gain international recognition for your work and boost your profile among the world’s leading disaster experts and community medicine specialists.

Submission Guidelines
Please carefully read all instructions before preparing your abstract.

Important dates and deadlines
Submission deadline extended to : 31 July 2016 (1200 hrs, Hong Kong time)
Notification to submitters : 30 August 2016
Publication of accepted abstracts : Early September 2016

Submissions are welcome in all topics related to the following.
  • Disaster preparedness and response
  • Community Medicine (including public health medicine, administrative medicine and occupational medicine)

Abstracts should be structured into the following logical sequence:
  • An abstract title (The title should not exceed 25 words)
  • Background & Objectives
  • Methods / data analysis
  • Results
  • Conclusion
  • Work in progress is also acceptable

  1. Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  2. The length of the abstract is not more than 350 words, excluding authors’ details and headers title.
  3. Abstract Submission Form should be typed in Times New Roman 12-point font size with single-line spacing. Handwritten abstracts will NOT be accepted.
  4. Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full term the first time it appears.
  5. Abstracts can only be submitted by completing a submission form, which can be downloaded on the Conference website or obtained from the Conference Secretariat, and return to abstract_acdpr@hkam.org.hk.
  6. Submission by fax or courier will not be accepted. No exemption will be made.
  7. After you submit your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email containing the title and body text of your abstract.
  8. Submitted abstracts will be examined by one of two Scientific Committee: one assessing abstracts on disaster preparedness and response, the other assessing abstracts on community medicine related topics.
  9. The submitting author of an accepted abstract will be notified of acceptance or rejection by email.
  10. Accepted abstracts will be invited either Oral or Poster Presentation at the ACDPR 2016. Presentation schedule will be emailed 4 weeks before scheduled.
  11. Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent in early September 2016. Accepted abstract will be published on the Conference website one month prior to the Congress.
  12. Presenter MUST register for the Conference, in order for an accepted abstract to be published.
  13. The Conference Secretariat reserves the right to edit the format of abstract for publication in terms of uniformity purpose.
  14. ACDPR 2016 reserves the right to reject or alter abstracts based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:
    • Abstracts do not comply with style guidelines, including excessive length
    • Abstracts contain inappropriate content
    • Abstracts fall outside of the topical scope of the meeting
