In collaboration with the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO), a guided tour to the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters located in Tsim Sha Tsui will be arranged on 30 June 2019 (Sunday) and offered to a group of our conference participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
The guided tour will take our participants to see how weather forecasts are made and how technology is put to use. They also have a chance to visit elegant historical buildings and appreciate the history of the HKO. Visitors will be visiting the History Room, where they can understand the historical operations of the HKO throughout the years and during major disaster incidents, dating back to pre-war periods. Visitors will also be led through the Central Forecasting Office, where daily weather forecasts are formulated, and the TV Studio for daily broadcasting of weather forecasts. Visitors will be able to observe how the HKO applies the latest technology and meteorological instruments to provide various services such as weather forecasting, microclimate monitoring, tsunami and earthquake monitoring.
