Pre-conference Workshop

The pre-conference workshop is offered to conference participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

This workshop aims to provide an up-to-date overview of use of big data and social media during emergencies at organisational level. Our first speaker, Mr Panda Poon, speakers will start with the latest overview of social media use and then dwell into the specifics of the use of social media during crisis times from both an organisational and social perspective. This includes an analysis of users’ behaviours and expectations on social media.

The second speaker, Mr James Leung, will cover the application of data mining for enhancing analysis and monitoring of communications on major incidents. Recent major hot news will be used as case studies to illustrate how use of big data can potentially benefit organisations in crisis communications.

The workshop is suitable for participants from all sectors of work.
