Health surge capacity is a system’s ability to expand quickly beyond normal services to meet a sudden surge of demand for health services. Mobile surge capacity teams can be a surge resource at a hospital for a mass casualty event or at health department during public health emergencies investigation or protection. The workshop aims to provide healthcare professionals with knowledge and guidance on mobile surge team planning and mobilization for medical and public health emergencies. It will examine theories and practices of mobile medical team mobilization from international and local experience. The workshop will also enable participants to explore challenges of developing mobile surge teams that are realistic and workable. It will feature presentations and discussions on the following topics:
- Understanding Surge Capacity and Mobile Surge Capacity
- Sharing of current practices from speakers and invited organisations
- Staffing Strategies
- Alternate Care Facilities, its mobilisation and demobilisation
